My computer doesn't recognise my DVD burner!?
So today I just bought a Sony DRU-830A DVD burner and chucked it within to the computer. I put it on slave because it's on the same secure as the original compact disc drive and I made sure a bajillion times that the drive was within right but when I turned on my computer it wasn't in my computer, although I could certainly open it up when I pressed the button. I put surrounded by the cd that came near it but it didn't install drivers just Nero 7 Essentials :S
I'm not great next to computers so it might be something blatantly obvious and I hope it is. HELP!
Answer:
Make sure the pullover on the DVD drive is also set to slave. Try replacing the ribbon cable w/ a new one. It may hold contributed to your troubles w/ the first DVD unit.
Hey - I simply fixed that same problem -
It is the jumper that the issue - as soon as I matched the pullover to the same place it be on the unit I pulled out it worked fine... oh and that Nero software stinks, it keep freezing my Dell all to heck. The resourceful software that came next to your machine will work better.
There are no drivers to install.
Make sure the other drive is set to master if this one is set to slave.
Maybe your cable is shot.
try using a different cable.
if that don't work, remove the cdom controler from your device commissioner and reboot to let Windows reinstall the drivers for it.

Your computer probably doesn't recognise your DVD burner because it's wearing a horsehair and sunglasses.
try altering the jumper to cable select on the stern of the drive
