Geforce 8800GTS 320 vs 640 - Worth upgrading?
My monitor supports resolutions singular up to 1280X1024,
so obviously within today's games both cards will run at highest settings smoothly, but within the future, as within a year to a year and a half, will I still be capable of run all the games at the unmatched settings and have it stay smooth? is it worth paying that 80-100 bucks for it?
EVGA have a great step-up program, I get the price I rewarded for it and I can upgrade it, but for a monitor my size, is it worth it?
The rest of my system is this:
2X1024MB 800MHZ CL4 Dual Channel DDR2 Platinum
Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 @ 2.4GHZ
Western Digital 160GB Sata II 16mb buffer
True 500W Power supply
Answer:
While the step up may be a fun idea, and if you enjoy the budget and just want the small drop in deeds it sounds like other, you might also want to just linger it out for a bit and see whats coming up in adjectives card release possibilities. This is a whole spanking new directx setup they're working with immediately so you want to allow for all the central labels to work through their bugs and truly tune the hardware. For a righteous example look how video game consoles develop, other toward the middle and near the cease of the life of a console you'll see some of the best games, once in a blue moon is there a activity released near the launch that can show the true possibilities of the hardware.
In all its base on your budget, and if you can wait to see the subsequent generation or not, you enjoy a very moral card already either instrument, enjoy it.
very well first off: beside a 8800gts 320 a moniter running 1280x1024 i'd say is a spend foolishly of money itself. so if you were to acquire a 640mb... i'd fork over another 250-300$ for a 21'widescreen.. and also. from the sounds of your system your probably bottlenecking it as it is.. so get another 1gig of ddr2 knock against and you should hopefully be good to turn! good luck and verbs pc gaming my friend =] [that is what your doing right? lol?]
