The laser in a cd writer is not powerful adequate to do anything like that, you involve to build your own laser, there are instructions on the internet to home build one. They are not bent to build.

It's obviously not powerful plenty to burn things. If it were, afterwards your CD would de-ice.

There really isn't a route. The laser in a disc writer is not powerful to do anything except cut through less than a millimeter of metal (as it be designed to do.)

Well, you first need to build a shrink/enlarge mechanism (like in "Honey I shrunk The Kids"), after you could enlarge the laser from the CD-writer to a size immense enough to adopt the amounts of energy you'd be pouring into it surrounded by order to hold a beam strong satisfactory burn through stuff.
You'll also need to develop a tuning method contained by order to set the proper focal point where on earth the laser beam concentrates it's get-up-and-go.
(Unless you're going for one with an "infinite" focal point which will allow you to burn a hole surrounded by the moon or something - this would possibly require more energy than presently available to most significant cities so you'll have to develop an spirit source as well as the nouns and other support that goes into it.)
Once you've done adjectives of this, of course, they'll probably own something using gravity wave propagating (black-holes?) or Hump-backed whale songs that are more modernized. Or maybe somebody will be waiting near an appropriately silvered mirror to send backbone your beam to you.
I hope this have spurred your interests in Physics so that you will explore it. Maybe by next you will see there are better things to do near tech. (I will admit I've thought almost building a laser, myself.)
