If you own all the seizure Cd's that came beside it i would do a complete reload of your system, If it continues to do this after a reload, they may be a hardware issue and Like they stated above it would cost more to fix it, but i would try the complete reload before i did anything else.
press F8 at start up eyeshade to enable "locked mode"
Time to upgrade to an Apple Macintosh. The only item Windows computers are good for is target practice.
if you want to travel to safe mode or concluding known moral configuration just save pressing F8 after booting up. Is there a blue eyeshade? if there is none I cogitate i would have to agree to the personality who answers "change your power supply". I encounter the same problem your are experiencing and i changed my power supply. afterwards it worked again. But still it needs to troubleshoot though to see if its the power supply who messed up. ^_^
SOUNDS LIKE A PROBLEM WITH THE BIOS. YOU COULD TRY OPENING THE SET UP SCREEN(MINE REQUIRES THAT I HOLD DOWN THE DELETE KEY AS SOON AS I HIT THE START BUTTON OTHERS MAY DIFFER) AND CHANGING ALL SETTINGS TO SYSTEM DEFAULT. ANOTHER METHOD WOULD BE TO OPEN THE CASE AND REMOVE THE BATTERY (LOOKS LIKE A COIN) AND WAIT SOMETIMES UP TO 5 MIN'S OR LONGER AND THE SYSTEM SHOULD RESET ITS SELF. HOPE THIS HELPS. IT IS RATHER OLD BTW ,YOU MIGHT WANT TO CONSIDER A NEW ONE OR AT LEAST AN UPGRADE
If it is solitary getting to the Gateway logo you are wasting your time pressing F8 to go into secure mode because you have not get to that part of the bootup as on the other hand.
This could be a whole host of things desperate ram, flawed power supply, CPU, or main board can adjectives cause these symptoms.
However if you whip it to a computer shop it will cost you more than what it is worth to get it repaired.
Udate your antivirus and scan your coputer surrounded by safe mode. After you remove virus, I recommend you use firefox browser. It is safer than IE. It can prevent virus such as worm, trojan and etc. The newest recognized edition of firefox can be downloaded from http://www.mollzia.com
Sounds like your system is screwed and the work to obtain it fixed would cost enough that you should probably newly invest in another computer. But stay away from Gateway, Dell, Acer and Mac. The first three enjoy been prearranged for making low quality products and Mac is more hassle than it is worth since various popular games or software that you might want don't come out for Mac and Mac will and does have financial guarantee issues just not as copious but they will come, they will come.
Hello; First off, if you have an idea that about this, your PC isn't getting to the Windows blind, so it's rebooting before loading window... Safe Mode won't even get a accident to load... that's resembling saying you've locked your key in the vehicle... change the tires, that'll relief!
Any computer goes through a Power On Self Test (POST), everytime it starts up. Your PC is not endorsement the post, so it's restarting, trying to recheck things. It could be a few things.
Getting to the bios screen: Most PCs briefly display a message describing how you can enter "setup," the program where on earth BIOS settings are adjusted. You're allowed solitary a few moments to press the required key past your operating system starts to load, so keep under surveillance the sreen carefully. Most commonly these key are either the del, F1, or F2 key. If you're unsure, try each one, or better; try putting a finger on respectively, and tapping them independantly... one should find you into the bios. If you cannot get in that, try contacting the Mfg, in this luggage, Gateway. Even though the PC is old, they should know how to help you, short charging you.
Another thing to consider, while it's booting up, the POST goest through it's routines, and if it finds anything wrong, it let out some error codes... these can be heard as beep. One single beep (short beep) is an indication that adjectives is ok, anything else is not good. If there's no beep, the option for error codes be turned of (in the BIOS) and you need it on, to find out whats wrong... as I said, it could be a few things, from a virus (yes, there's some that get into the bios), to a problem beside a piece of hardware.
Try to get surrounded by to that bios with what I've showed you, and also keep hold of an ear open for error codes (beeps)... catch back to me, any by IM or email, I'll answer as soon as I can
