I hope some PC guru out nearby would know this one?
I accidently removed my USB flash memory from the USB port while my laptop be in the middle of copying background to it. When I re-insreted it, a message appeared saying the device be not formatted and prompted me to format. Apparently, the PC can detect the memory stick (I see its icon on "my computer"), but cannot read anything on it. In reality, when I click on "properties", it shows both zero free space and not anything used space on the USB stick. My stick has 4GB of facts on it, which I dearly need since I am traveling within a conference. If I format, I'll lose it. As two guys from the yahoo-answers community kindly suggested, I tried to re-start my laptop beside and without the USB memory inserted, but the problem persist.
I hope there is an expert out here who can help me near this one. I will greatly appreciate it.
thanx
Answer:
Unfortunately your data is corrupted which is why the computer is asking you to re-format the flash drive, it can no longer authorize the data . Also, the USB flash itself could be shabby. physically stopping a drive while in the process of copying files will almost other corrupt the data. Same is true whether your using a floppy disk, cdr, dvdr or any copy medium including digital cameras. You could try inserting the USB flash drive into another computer preferably a desktop and hopefully it will read the data. Different computers have subtle differences in reading information, I did it once or twice before and it worked. Depending on how useful the data contained by your flash drive, your last resort may be to distribute your flash drive to a data rescue company. They use special softwares and equipment to retrieve data from corrupted drives, but here is no guarantee and they do cost upwards of $200.
Ouch. You may be out of luck on that.
you can try a flash recovery utilty similar to this:

or this

or this

static electricity can reak havoc on any drive, when you pull it out it might enjoy shorted
did/can you get a driver for the memory stick? If you hold a driver, you can possibly save the notes. It is highly unlikely though that you will be capable of save the background. sorry =[. You can get the driver from the manufactures' website.
Try using a desktop to see if it can read it. If so rear legs it up on the hard drive format the flash drive and re-download from the complicated drive. Until the flash is reformatted it is a dead duck. Good Luck
I don't know the solution, but I can donate you an awesome advice. Call your USB memory stick factory owner. They will solve the problem for sure. These things happen to me but they are solved within 24 hours. So call the factory owner.
if you pulled the USB out before it told you it be 'safe' then the facts is already corrupt.
So if you can, reformat and put the data BACK on it and dally till it tell's you it's 'safe' to remove (there will be an icon on the bottom of the screen).
This is a live and swot situation. I agree with Amanda H. here. You may hold to go as far as formatting it to get hold of it readable and then use a retrieval tool to get the background back, Use the safe and sound removal icon from presently on. Unless recreating data is a hobby of yours. Good Luck
I would similar to to try this..format the usb drive. (ur data is already gone) THEN...try a background recovery program BEFORE you write anything ELES to the drive...you might know how to recover something..i really hope this help..R
Don't Format yet. Try to restore your health it first with a program as mentioned below.

Try to uninstall the USB driver by going to the device manager if you are using Windows OS, after reinsert the USB drive again and it will install another driver. Hope it works.
Try the software (shareware) from the following link:
