I cannot disconnect my laptop from the router and use the internet. whats wrong?

sky broadband recommended a device for lb25 to cause my lap top wireless, surely its wireless anyway, its a knees top(toshiba).

Well just "toshiba" doesnt supply enough information for a fitting answer.

Only few laptops have Satalite Connection, these are exceedingly expensive!

Others require a Wireless LAN Router, which you connect to your internet via Phone socket. Then use the WiFi on your laptop to find and connect to your router.

Some may not have built surrounded by WiFi which requires a USB or Card slot device which will enable you to use WiFi via the device

Sorry but I doubt it is wireless out of the box.
I don't quite follow you...not adjectives laptops are wireless, but even if it was you are still going to involve a wireless router, i.e one with a small antenna.
However, there's another risk. I'm not familiar near Sky Broadband, but where I live, "3" Mobile Network's launching a current device for lap tops at more or less lb25 that allows 1.5 Mbits download, using 3's cell phone antennas I guess.
