I not long bought a complicated drive and requirement help out?

I not long bought an external hard drive (not inside the computer), and It contains 250 GB and its a Seagate.

Well I enjoy used it and can store all my files, but in that
is a problem. I still have 1 afternoon left to return my item.
I want to return my item for another rugged drive but to be portable. I'm not sure if I should can you please help me?:D

Differeces are:
*It contains smaller number GB's though (160-180).
*The 250 GB has to be powered by electricity and
the portable doesn't.
*The portable is approach smaller that the 250 GB
(that is why its' portable) and can take it anywhere.

Answer:
You should, if you're not worried give or take a few speed.
The smaller one probably runs at 5400rpm as the bigger on is at 7200rpm. There won't be much diffence if you are using it to transfer files, but you will get the impression the difference if you are playing demanding games through it.

If I were you, I would bring the smaller one, less wires, smaller quantity hassle, more portable. Even thought it has smaller amount space, it is still worth it.
You are looking for an opinion more than an answer ;-)

I guess that the portable is better: no transformers and plugs needed, and you can carry anywhere.

Of course you hold the penalty of smaller amount storage space, but 180 GB isn't bad anyway.
You've answered your own examine. It is a trade off between usefullness and dimensions. I will tell you though, the larger a hd is, the more imagined it will fail, and the more background on it will be lost. Portable hd use a ton of energy and will doother things to a notebook. Make sure if you use it portable, you bring along he ac adapter and do not rely on usb for power. Segate is not a discouraging brand, what brand is the other one. you didn't give othr specs that are in=mportant too similar to rpm and size of buffer. Do NOT try to save a few pennies on a HD, assuming you receive it on sale, money spent on a reliable hd is adjectives well spent.
Get a Western Digital protable frozen drive. A 160 gb version go for around $100. Pwered through USB. 7200 rpm's. VERY FAST!
ok look at it this way, if your using it near a laptop, then you can use it bad the usb ports nor needing external power, And are you going to use that much space? you can other save files to a cd/dvd disk. plus the portable small drive is much easier to feel

so you have to weigh up the pros and cons that suite your personal use
