How can i achieve my speakers to work properly?

I enjoy a Compaq Presario, and Altec Lansing stereo speakers, but i cant get them to work. I'm pretty sure theres nil wrong with the speakers, becuase near are speakers built in to my moniter, and even those werent working past i got the stereo ones. There have to be some kind of settings that i'm missing, because i havent be able to bring back any sound on the other hand. I checked the connections carefully, and im pretty sure everything is hooked up right.

Sounds approaching you've been over the speakers themselves, but enjoy you tried a set of known working speakers?
Is power mortal provided to the speakers?
Are the speakers plugged into the correct jack on the pc?
All of this self true the problem is sound card related.
Go the Compaq and download the drivers for your nouns card
From the desktop Right click on My Computer, Properties, Hardware, Device Manager, Click on Sound, Video and Game Controllers, Delete the Drivers (there will be several things listed but collectively only two are "Drivers").
Restart your computer.
Windows may detect and install the drivers automatically, but lately in skin you have the drivers it's requests.

get to your device manager and check to see if they are installed right if you can click trouble shoot and fix the problem.

Use the utility in the Control Panel to set up your speakers. Also inventor sure that there is nought muted on your volume control.
